Window Manager:
        Window Maker

Browser:
Firefox (I prefer Galeon, but Galeon has not kept up with Gecko
                as well)
        Links
        Lynx
        (yes, I use them all)

Email:
        Mutt

Media Player:
xmms (mostly for ease of volume control via wmxmms which lives
in the dock of my window manager)
        Ogg123
        Mpg123
        Mplayer
Mtv (for playing mpeg's on Solaris)

Office Software:

        Word Processor:
Lyx (I don't have much need of this, actually)

        Presentation:
                Magic Point

        Editor:
                Vim

        Spreadsheet:
yet to find one I like. Recomendations?

        Calendar:
                my Palm Pilot
Jpilot (syncs with the Palm Pilot)

        Address Book:
                Mutt (for email)
                flat files (for other things)
my Palm Pilot (because I seem to abhor consistency)
Jpilot (syncs with the Palm Pilot)

        Database Frontend: (Think Access?)
no need for one, never sought one out.

        Drawing Thingy:
                The GIMP

        Displaying Thingy:
                Image Magick
                Qiv

Common Apps:
rxvt/aterm (compiled with a NeXTish look)
        various system monitors
        acroread/gv
        irssi (IRC client)
        GAIM (Jabber client)
ssh (remote terminal server client application)

Note: I do not use office suites, so I do not know what is typically
included with them. I asked a set of bickering geeks, and a lovely,
wise, and vastly more intelligent than said bickering geeks MS Windows
user about applications found in an office suite. That is what they came
up with. I still am not sure what the ``Database Frontend: (Think
Access?)'' really is.
