We didn't just defeat the Soviet Union in the Cold War, we became them.


Yeah, except we live in a nation where only the defense can appeal
(russia only the PROSECUTION can appeal),  people are shamlessly
subjugated for protesting, speaking openly whether through print or
voice, nobody cares if people are tortured, and the president can't be
confronted by the courts, rather the courts are an instrument of
supression for the president. Maybe you wanna back that statment up?
I'll spend my time being happy for what we have.......



One small example. This just in from CNN:

'-- President Bush today acknowledged that U.S. authorities have held suspected terrorists in secret CIA prisons around the world and said information obtained from them "has saved innocent lives."'

Anyone, even you and me, labeled as a "terrorist" can be imprisoned without due process according to the federal government. So far, the courts have backed this up.
