Seriously, Andrew, if I can't snap at you, who can I? You're the most
acerbic friend I have.
You can snap; however, do expect that I can get annoyed.
One thing that people seem to forget when debugging computers is that
computers are both *pedantic* and *precise*. Something which the
English language is not.
Yes, it's annoying to be asked if you metaphorically checked the power
cable, but even the best occasionally get tripped up by stupid stuff (3
times today, so far, and I've had a *good* day).
I also noticed that your system seems to think it has an IPv6 address.
I generally turn IPv6 off unless I have an explicit reason for using it.
"ifconfig -a" on all the machines to check if you got a duplicated IP.
"netstat -nr" to check for default routes and interfaces
Several people suggested nmap or tcpdump. While I use those tools,
ethereal tends to be a little friendlier. Color coding of packets often
makes finding the anomalies much easier.
