I'm sure there is a Perforce plugin. But the combination of fee and instability cuts it off. Especially *fee*. As a lecturer, I am an agent of the University. I do not qualify for exemptions that do not already exist and have no authority to negotiate contracts.
I often wonder about the logic behind the fees some companies charge for their educational versions. This is one reason I selected Maple over MatLab (and others) for my math program of choice while going to school (I still have it installed, but have had no use for it since my last class). It was not overly expensive, it was full featured - including the ability to use the plugins available - and came with a complete set of manuals. All the others were either crippled or cost way too much. As if students and educational institutions had money to burn.
