Funny... It's just the opposite for me. 'man 1 ntpd' gives me "No
entry for ntpd in section 1 of the manual". But 'man 8 ntpd' gives me
a man page.
Consider the following exercise in simple use of command-line tools:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ locate ntpd | grep man
/usr/share/man/man1/ntpd.1.gz
/usr/share/man/man1/ntpdc.1.gz
/usr/share/man/man1/ntpdate.1.gz
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ locate ntpd | grep bin
/usr/sbin/ntpdc
/usr/sbin/ntpdate
/usr/sbin/ntpd
So on this system (FC3) the relevant man.pages are in
/usr/share/man/man1 and the executable files are in /usr/sbin. YMMV.
