Network is much easier in Debian. Of course Redhat's convulted ways had them creating gooeys to config the interfaces, not bad, but they still bury crap under /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth?? Debian uses /etc/network/interfaces to configure interfaces and they provide a man page, and there are gooeys to tweak it, but being OLD sk00l, you will like this: "man interfaces" An easier way to switch to Debian is to just throw Ubuntu on a box and uncomment the "Universe" section in your apt sources list. Maybe jaqque can give a talk on basic running of debian, since he is a developer. :) Oh... http://www.debian-administration.org/ Mark -- Mark Wolfe Lakeside, Ca. http://www.wolfenet.org gpg fingerprint = 42B6 EFEB 5414 AA18 01B7 64AC EF46 F7E6 82F6 8C71 Microsoft - We put the "backwards" into backwards compatibility. -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
