These might be a convenient way to go.

I would not mind a little app that ran in the background and just
pushed all of my usr/pwd stuff off on to one of these together
with some info about the app that was asking for the usr/pwd.

I don't know exactly how to write that app right off but I suspect
that with a little thought it is not terribly difficult to do.

This says nothing about encryption, but it's an actual mini hard drive (up to 8GB) only slightly larger than a USB flash drive. (This is the first one I've seen this small.)
