If by "founded upon Christian principals" you mean that the founders were
a product of European culture, yeah, sure. If you mean they were intent on
founding a Christian nation, you have their expressed statements saying
the opposite.

Not so. This was discussed extensively in the 1700s and has been a
constant tension in our country.
