Is the static IP being assigned by DHCP or something?
on the wan it is set as "Static IP" in the router.
When you say you loose the external static IP, what exactly happens? Are
you loosing your connection to the Internet?
in the status page for the router the WAN IP address becomes 0.0.0.0
Just to confirm, the router changes its static IP address from what
you've set it to, to 0.0.0.0. Then when rebooted it's back to what it
should be.
Be sure you don't have the router set to use one of the dynamic DNS
services. You could write down all the settings and do a hard reset of
the router, then reprogram it.
