Unfortunately, as you can see, DOS formatted EOL does not fix the problem. The DOS formatted EOL is stripped out just like the Unix formatted EOL. :(

If I'm not mistaken, the bottom should look like:

--------------------
line 1
line 2
line 3
--anon

What is your fortune file look like?

According to
http://mozext.achimonline.de/signatureswitch_cookie_signature.php

I'd guess that you would want to have your fortune file resemble

=============================================================================
Ralph
---------------
$
Some random quote here
%
And another quote
following it.
-Anon
%
Etc.
-Ibid
%
...
=============================================================================

Yes, that's pretty much it (only now, each line (except $ and %) is ended with <br>). (And I have a blank line (with <br>) between Ralph<br> and --------------------<br>.)

He also mentions using HTML in the signatures -- try inserting a <br>
and see if he strips those out when generating text-only messages, but
leaves in the newlines.

And finally, remember, try to be (mostly) McQuary-compliant.

Thank you Stewart. That (the <br>) was the secret sauce. :)

I was unaware of the HTML angle (or didn't realize it's importance and forthwith forgot it altogether).

I am at a loss regarding the "McQuary-compliant" remark.

(But now I can start the cut and paste process between the KSig file and what is to be my new sig file.)

The emails just before I sent this one explained the McQuary reference. There is often a day or two of emails that I haven't read yet whenever I send an email. I grab whatever's on the ISP's server, and then read and reply as I'm able. Sometimes I finish a day or two later, when I go and grab the next batch.

I haven't had a chance yet to transfer sigs from one file to another. Too bad the KSig program doesn't have an export dump of some kind (at least not that I've been able to find).

As I recall, I stumbled several days thereafter.
