California may spend more than any other state, only because it has more
students. Ranked by per pupil spending california is 32nd in spending,
and if
the Governor's cuts go through, it will be 48th.

In 2001-02, California spent $6,542 per student, compared to the U.S.
average
of $7,158, putting us 32nd among the states. When high costs are
considered,
we ranked 46th among the states, spending only 82 percent of the national

I can't believe that of all the things San Diego Unified could probably
cut in their proposed budget, the biggest cut is teachers! Yeah, that's
the problem. Maybe we should just have one teacher per school; put all
the kids in one big lecture room. That'd save a lot of money. In fact,
eliminate teachers altogether - they seem to be such a pesky and whiny lot.
Come the next election, I'm going to vote to fire every member of the
school board running for re-election.
I do that every election for our school district. They are WAY overpaid,
can't manage shit, and I often wonder if they ever even made it through
grammar school.
Here's a nice tidbit for you regarding the SDUSD. In 2000 or 2001 (I
forget exactly which year, but it was while I was at Akamai), the
superintendent was canned. Part of the contract was that he'd get paid
his entire $120,000 yearly salary, whether he worked the entire year or
not. They person that replaced him was also canned, with the same
contract. They got a third person that lasted the year. So, the
wonderful system in San Diego went through spent three times the annual
salary in that year just to get the work of one person.
Gee, I wonder where the money for the schools goes? Gee I wonder where
the lottery money goes?
OK, you can all take it to the cooler now, I'm done.
