Please, tell me where I can get free schooling for my kids. I would love a piece of that.

There is no such thing as "free schooling".

I've been to places that truly don't have free schooling and the results are horrible. Lots of smart kids are left not knowing how to read or write and having no future just because their parents couldn't afford to send them to school. I am against many forms of socialism but our socialized schools are definitely a good thing. I think a lot of people don't realize that and fight to give the schools as little money as possible and don't pay nearly enough attention to the waste and abuse that goes on in the schools. More money for teachers is something I am always in favor of also as it would mean better quality teachers.

The problem is we don't pay for the schools. We pay for the bureaucrats that allocate a few bucks here and there to the schools. These same idiots also decide what tests the kids must pass in order to be deemed "educated".

ObOnTopic: And if we could get them to use Linux instead of wasting money on proprietary software kids could get an even better computer education and spend the difference on a qualified teacher!

They also make the stupid deals that result in buying over-priced Windows and Apple computers instead of putting the money to better use. My daughter (the oldest one, in 9th grade) has to do a lot of homework on the computer. I have her using Linux and Open Office. In school, even though she has to write her reports, etc. on a computer, they haven't taught her a damn thing about using them. If they did I'm sure it would be Windows and Word, and there would be no mention of alternatives.

On the other hand, if a young student is taught one OS and application set, what happens when they get into the real world and find another OS and application set? How does the school choose which one, or do they not teach any one? Do they expose the students to different environments? How does it get paid for and where does the extra time come from for learning it?
