My general solution to these kinds of problems is to remove the problem packages *only from the rpm database*, do the update, then reinstall the problem packages. For those of you 64-bit users out there, this really helps when a 32-bit package conflicts with a 64-bit one. This even works with system critical rpm's since the files never get deleted from the system. The downside is that if you don't replace the packages in the rpm database, you have orphaned files. rpm -e --allmatches --justdb --nodeps $problem_packages yum -y update # repeat removals until update succeeds yum install $removed_packages It's a brutal way to get around these kinds of problems. Use with care and don't blame me if rpm eats your cat. -Al > > I think these may have started happening after giving fc7 the ability to > play DVD movies.
