Nobody offers fiber in my area so I went with Dish. I have no idea
what their capacity is but I've recorded three HD streams at once (two
through the dish, one over the air) and they all came in perfectly.
Hockey in HD is awesome when it doesn't >blip< every 30 seconds.
I recently bought a DVD recorder with built-in analog and digital
(airwaves and cable) tuner. (I already had an HD antenna.) I was
surprised that I got nearly all the English channels in HD that I was
getting by analog (and two of the 9 Spanish channels).
Living in La Mesa is fairly local to the broadcasts apparently.
Anyway, my point is that I rarely notice any glitches in any of the
digital channels except when I hear a small plane passing high
overhead. But those glitches only last about a minute at the most and
are not as bad as the glitches I've seen on HD cable.
Initially, I got the following stations:
6.1 Fox
8.1 CBS
10.1 ABC
12.1 (disappeared after a few days)
15.1 different content than analog 15
15.2 Spanish PBS
39.1 NBC
39.2 24-hour weather
51.1 KUSI
57.1 XHUAA
69.1 CW
English stations either not digital yet (or out of range in digital
form) are:
29 (sometimes English, sometimes Spanish)
35 SDSU
49 ??? (used to have S.T. Enterprise) (UPN?)
Before I was getting digital, 8 was by far the clearest station. Even
that one was not cable clear, but close. The next best was noticeably
worse, though still bearable for me.
But my digital reception makes it looks like I have a cable hookup on
all the digital stations I receive. (Fortunately, I never hear those
small planes overhead during my recording times.)
