You're being more optimistic than I am. I am not even assuming that a C programmer could necessarily write good *C* programs.


However, I would stand by my statement that if you can program in C, you can program in Java.

In fact, I would probably even posit that you can program in Java and *not* be able to program in C. Java does not require that you ever throw pointers around--C does. That first indirection is generally the thing which sends 90% of CS folks back to liberal arts.
