yup, that's the habit I've always been in but know of many who don't even use
the emergency/parking brake at all.

I've always appreciated the levered hand brake between bucket seats over
any kind of under-dash emergency brake. The lever between the seats
method allows for some nice feathering and quick on/off action. Great for
"bat turns" too though I've never needed/used them in an escape or chase.
