Lance Dohe is the president of the San Diego PC User Group. I had a nice conversation about SDCS and the current changes taking place. San Diego PC User Group currently has about 100 subscribers to their newsletter and pays dues of $6 each according to Lance. So between KPLUG and SDPCUG we probably have enough to keep SDCS going, just fine.
I've been unable, so far, to reach the leaders of the other SIGs, but I will continue to try. In the spirit of cooperation I would like to make a proposal to the other SIGs. I need to know the feelings of the steering committee first. Since we have our own server and since I believe Plone is easy to clone, I suggest we offer to host any SIG that would like to take advantage of the offer. In conversation with Lance I learned they pay $100 a year for their hosting. I would also propose that we also host SDCS' web site on our server. I don't think we'll have to manage their sites, though it might require some hand holding in the beginning to get their webmasters up to speed. Let's open a discussion. What are your thoughts? In particular I would like to hear from Josh and Gregory since they will bear the responsibility for the additional work. -- Neil Schneider pacneil_at_linuxgeek_dot_net http://www.paccomp.com Key fingerprint = 67F0 E493 FCC0 0A8C 769B 8209 32D7 1DB1 8460 C47D Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it - Mark Twain -- KPLUG-Steer@kernel-panic.org http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-steer
