I have the books now and will bring them to the meeting for the raffle.

Sounds good. Do you have any commitments yet? I know I offered a short
list of things I could present on a while back but I don't recall what
they were now. Nor do I recall if they were short, shallow topics. The
only problem I see with doing mini-presentations is that most
interesting things will need a computer to demo or present with and the
setup time with the projector is always longer than we would like. I
wish I had a laptop right now that I could let everyone use for their
presentations.

First comment: fumbling around to make a presentation using an
unfamiliar computer setup might waste as much time as fumbling around
to make the projector work.

Second comment: A couple of scientific meetings that I have been to
recently had a double-buffered projection setup. The on-deck speaker
was able to set up his computer using a flat-panel monitor that had
the same resolution characteristics as the projector. When it came
time for the next speaker, the previously active computer was switched
to the offline display and the on-deck one switched to the projector.
Then the cable plugging was done offline to release the previous
speaker and set up for the following one. I suppose this implies an
X-switch for the video cable.

I don't know how much practise they had doing this, but it seemed to
go very smoothly for 10-minute to 15-minute presentations.
