My inspecting DAR asked questions and looked at my photo records to insure that I was the actual builder of the aircraft so I could apply for the mechanics license but never looked at or asked about the plans. He knew I had made a number of changes from the plans and we discussed them but that's as far as it went. His only comment was "that's the best looking KR I've ever inspected" and he said he wouldn't be afraid to fly it. Good thing the buttons on my shirt were double stitched and I had a hat with a stretch band. :-) The only real problem I've had in the 190 hours since first flight two years ago was the leak in the left fuel tank the first time I filled them.
