Dr. Hsu,

Sounds like a parking brake cable type end to me. 

I'd try doing a search on Amazon for parking brake cables, you might be able
to find something there you can adapt.

The other option is to potentially solder a new end yourself, I did that for
a quick parking brake cable myself for a quick repair one time.
