I was searching through the garage today for an item and came across
some photos of my landing gear construction from 25 years ago. As we
were discussing this area recently I thought they might be of interest
to some current builders.
original install before beefing up the gear leg. That date should be
12/95 not 96

Later opened up the wing to reinforce the gear leg. It looked too
flexible under load

Closing up the cutout. Note foam on front and rear of leg to streamline
and brake line run through lead edge.

Closed up right leg with added ledge to install landing light and lens.
That edge was covered with several layers of deck cloth for easier
layup. The small notch at the gear leg is where the brake line will pass
and route through the stub wing to the fuselage.

My lower bracket that replaced the Diehl lower bracket that was later
recalled. The wheels, brakes, axles, and wheel pant brackets came from
a salvaged C150. The complete 600X6 wheel setup was later replaced with
500X5 Clevelands.

If I ever need to get to the gear bracket I can remove the landing /
taxi light assembly, cut out the foam and have complete access to the
gear leg.
Finished leg.
