I took that picture at the 2001 KR Gathering, hanging out the door of Larry Flesner's Tripacer. The photo really sums up the seating situation in a stock KR, this one Terry Chizek's, but Rob Schmitt in the right seat, I believe.  There are a lot more interesting details about that Gathering at http://krnet.org/pinebluff2001 .  It was a classic KR Gathering, with lots of information sharing between builders and pilots.

I'm guessing the crop grown in the field in Mark's photo was rice.  These "levees" follow the couture of the land to hold the water used to flood the rice at the same level in that area of the field.  I'm guessing the ground is a bit uneven in that area as the segments are of smaller area than I've seen a bit further north of that area where the perimeter of the sections may be a half mile or more in length.  Rice growing in northern California has the same levee system.

I was wondering why the Tripacer and I were not showing up in any of the photos but it sneaked in to this one.

It has passed through several owners since then, totally restored, and living with Jason Gould in Plano, Texas.  A lot of good aerial photos of KR's shared with the world on the web through the lens of Mark Langford's camera sticking out the back door of that ol' bird. For those concerned, I installed a double set of belts for that seat, each belt oriented in opposite directions, so the chance of an accidental unbuckle was very small.
