You really need to wire for "optimal" as you can't take in to account
all the Bubba mistakes builders will make or you'll end up using welders
cable for the avionics. Over-sizing the wire can not make up for bad
connections, wire damage and the like. Using the "correct" wire size
and, I'm assuming good workmanship, I've had two electrical problems in
18 years and 800 hours of flight time. One was a bad connector that I
must have damaged on install and the other was loosing ground to the
avionics. I simply ran another ground wire without bothering to
identifying the failure point and fixing it.
Design a good circuit , find and use a good wire chart, use acceptable
wiring practices, and enjoy the flight..................
