Sorry for having been absent for a while but work lately has eaten up all
of my time and I kinda neglected mapping for a while (tonight was the first
time in months I restarted Hammer...)
But I still felt like replying to this: I kinda have to agree with both
sides. The amount of players I see online on L4D2 during the evening in
Europe has literally dropped 50% in a few months: we used to have 14k+
players active, and now it's 7k.
Now I know that big releases like BF3 and MW3 will always take away some of
the players, it still saddens me to see an excellent game like L4D2 losing
so many players.

On one hand, it's certainly a good thing that Valve continues the blog
posts and the Mutation rotation and it's great that we get the L4D1
campaigns, but I for one would like to see some small changes and I think
lots of people will agree
- Those darn heaps of medkits
- The Tank on DeC1 that spawns ot the bottom of the building and cant get
up to the survivors. The survivors just have to wait for the Tank to die
before taking the elevator down
- The return of featured custom maps
- Making the Witch get startled easier when she's wandering
- Cold Stream that is still in Beta

I know some of these things are personal preferences, but I have to agree
with the statement that L4D2 isnt getting the attention it deserves.
Mutations are great, ported maps are great, those blog posts always provide
a fun read, but I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that
some bugs should have been fixed or at least addressed long ago.
That being said, I still maintain my opinion on Valve: along with Blizzard,
they are the only game designing companies I blindly trust. If a product
was made by Valve, by default I will assume it's good and Valve
communicates a lot more with the community than other companies do. But
it's just those small things that seem to take ages that give the
impression that the game is abandoned, even if it's not really the case.
But it's the impression we get.
