Issues I've had with the current system that I've noticed is mainly with
scripts but I'm just going to assume for now that when the scripting tool
comes this will be fixed. I have noticed a few times though that an addon
doesn't seem to take effect until I restart the game. My biggest complaints
about the workshop at the moment would have to be people not properly
tagging their stuff properly and the rating system. A simple thumbs up and
thumbs down voting system is good for some things like Greenlight but not
for when you are trying to rate an item on the workshop. Example: I thought
Deathcraft was a pretty good campaign but didn't deserve a perfect score
but at the same I don't think it deserves a 0. What the workshop could
really use in the way of reviews is something similar to the ModDB review
system, a 0-5 star ranking system then give them a spot to write something
about why they gave it that score.

>We are also using this list less and the new forums more - would it be
helpful to have a dedicated modding/mapping forum and have the list
discussions there?

Yes very much, the current general SDK one located here:
http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/#tools does get some posters but not
very many. If you could find a way to include a "Take me to forums" button
into the authoring tools I think it would help it out. I like the forum
layout for the most part but I feel like there isn't enough sub
directories, for instance it could be broken down further into mapping,
scripting, tech support, suggestions, etc. If you look at the l4d2
discussion hub right now it's kind of a messy mixture of people asking for
tech help, looking for people to play with, and those offering suggestions.
With about 3 pages of discussions for this game being
created everyday alone it makes it really hard to browse. @Eugenio: Try
navigating the forums using your normal web browser it's much easier then
using Steams I found.

>One change coming - we will be allowing mods to run on our servers in
co-op but not versus.

Does this include mutations? For instance if someone were to make a versus
mutation is there a chance it could show up on the official servers? I can
understand why you wouldn't want things like skins and sound packs but I
think custom mutations for versus could add greatly to the game.

>Lastly, if you have been around and want to be in the beta group for the
new scripting tools coming out - let me know by replying privately to me
and please include a link with your current work. We are looking to
distribute these first to experienced modders and then open it up to people
less familiar with the current tools.

If you haven't already I strongly suggest you ask Shotgunefx, he's done a
ton of work for the community and a lot of it is providing scripting
documentation. His Scripting FAQ located in the old L4D2 forums is very
helpful and a lot of the info he found out about it has been carried over
to the main developer wiki. He's always responding to peoples questions and
it would be a real shame if he didn't get in as I feel he is the most
suitable person for giving you guys the feedback on this new tool that you
need.
