As far as his tender tummy. What do you feed him?

I, also, am new to the group...I have a 10+ month old multigen. labradoodle and got him from a great breeder in Davis, CA (we live in Northern Calif.). We were told that we would pretty much know the final coat type, color and degree of shedding by about 8 months, and it appears to be very accurate. Oliver is a cream standard with a fairly curly coat that does not shed. He has a great personality, although is clearly still a puppy (boy, does the "lab" background show at times). His father is a multigen. from Tegan Park, and hopefully, Oliver will "mature" into an adult more like dad! His only problem, if you can call it that, is a "tender tummy" which, we are told, is not unusual for the breed...anything that changes in his diet or surroundings leads to loose stools...then it clears up quite rapidly with little or no intervention. In terms of the shedding, it seems that the F1 backbreeding (to a poodle) early in the line, seems to decrease the liklihood of this being a problem...at least that is what I've been told. However, whatever the coat, the doodle's personality makes up for any inconveniences...they appear to be close to perfect...not aggressive with people or other dogs, loving, smart and happy...a better choice cannot be made.----- Original Message ----

>Hi Lisa,
I am also new to the group and judging from most of the posts I
have read in the last few days, have a very unusual Labradoodle. Her
name is Samantha, she is about 18 months old and much to my
surprise, I found that she sheds about as much as any other shedding
dog. And her hair grows like a Poodle's so she needs haircuts as
well, though not very often. I think it all depends on whether your
dog is more like a Poodle or more like a Lab. There is another
Labradoodle in the obedience class I take her to and Hannah's owner
tells me the same thing-sheds, needs haircuts. That being somewhat
of a drawback to some, I will also say that her good points are many-
she is about the most loving dog you could ever hope for, wicked
smart and has developed a rather large fan base thanks to her
charming personality. They do seem to need a lot of exercise and I'm
told they do not exhibit as many as the health problems as either
Poodles or Labs but she has some urinary tract problems which seem
unique to her as opposed to a common problem with the breed.
Best of luck with your search! Pat
