I replaced my desktop computer with a laptop because it takes up much less
space. I'm sitting now with it on my tablemate while watching an old episode
of "Inspector Morse". I do have a wireless mouse attached because I've not
been able to master the touch pad for fine positioning of the pointer.
If you don't want to play the latest games, then laptops are fairly cheap
now, but you'd need to make sure it has everything you want in the way of
graphics and other capabilities.
I have a combination printer/scanner/copier. I've had it for several years
and so far it's been reliable. I would think that university printers get a
lot more use than a home user.
What suits me might not suit you.
