Patrician, I use my laptop at home and only at home and will certainly not go back to a desktop PC. Sometimes I work in the kitchen but the laptop remains mostly in my little office. I have a multi machine (HP photosmart) and have not had a minute of trouble with it. Love the way I can scan, photocopy or print at whim. Mine has a section in the front where you can put various sized memory cards and print directly from them, i.e. not use the computer at all. For all my years of not liking laptops, I am now a big convert. One of my sons gave me a mouse for the laptop a while ago and that really is a welcome addition.

Subject: [lace-chat] Advice on equipment

It lookes as if I shall have to replace my pc in the near future.? Can people advise me on two points. please?
I'm in the UK.

1? I have a traditional pc.? Is there any advantage to switching to a laptop for someone who only uses it at home and only wants to use it at home?

2 Is it better to purchase a plain printer and separate photocopier?? I have been told that the computer support dept in at least one University here advises that combined machines are unreliable.

Thank you.? Patricia in Wales
