The main advantage to a laptop is portability. In general, they cost more for a similar specification than desktop PCs. The only possible advantage for home use is if you are short of space and want to be able to pack the computer away when not in use. How much are you going to use your printer? The more modern combined machines tend to be OK, but can use ink at an alarming rate. Another option can be a printer and scanner - most scanning software includes copying facility.
