American English they use the French word 'paillettes' and in Canadian English, we use the British 'spangles'?

I'd use "paillettes" for the large plastic sequins, particular the very big ones with the holes off-centre, and I'd use "spangles" only for metal-based sequins. (True spangles are made by flattening a small circle of wire).
