Hi,

Devon said ""I have always felt that it is best if there be someone in the
group
designated to "befriend" any person who is at the group for the first
time or
actually perhaps the first year."

I wholeheartedly agree. My first visit to the lace guild was bewildering as I
knew no one and had no idea what their meeting format was, nor what they were
talking about. One lady started talking to me and explained what was what after
the meeting itself was over and the 'project' of the day was to begin. I was
very thankful for her and she became a very good friend. Eventually I learned
who all the members were and became friends with all of them. I miss all the
ones who have moved away and we do keep in touch occasionally by e-mail or the
phone. I shall always be thankful to the one who befriended me at that first
meeting and helped me through the second meeting as well.
