Hi Bev. The long "e" from German doesn't exist in English. So it is difficult to explain... The sound is the "e" which you pronounce in "men" or "let." But it has to be pronounced long. (Perhaps "present" was a wrong example! It just came to my mind in the moment of writing the first message).
