The pillow is 30 cm deep by 50 cm wide. The two side blocks are each 20 cm wide, and the three removable blocks down the middle are 10 cm by 10 cm. If I was making one in imperial measurement, it would be 12 inches deep and 20 inches wide with 8 inch wide side blocks and 4 inch square removable blocks.
The wide side blocks (which are glued to a base of thin MDF board) allow bobbins to be pushed to either side while working. The lace you are working on must be less than 10 cm, of course, but this is a travel or lap pillow for bookmarks and straight strips (and corners). To travel, the bobbins are secured with a tie or knitting needle pins (or crocheted bobbin holders for unspangled bobbins), which are in turned pinned to the pillow, a cover cloth pinned over the lot and the entire thing slipped into one of those reusable cloth grocery bags.
