I have made all my own pillows and most of my own tools...single (very low)
income and 3 teens to feed meant it was the only way I could get started...now
mostly because I enjoy.

My favorite pin pusher is a nail punch, my bobbin
holders are coated wire coat
hangers from the el cheapo shop...cut in half
and neck end bent around to make
the pin bit.  My prickers, lazy susan and
needle pin are bent (where needed)
embroidery needles pushed into broken
bobbin handles, square pillows made from
blocks of styrofoam, covered in
blanket then drill cotton fabric, cookie pillows
made with chip board base,
callico sleeves, old blanket and stuffed with wood
shavings from bobbin
making.  My cover cloths are scraps of fabric or the Cancer
Council bandana
fund raisers.  Bobbin roll instructions are on my blog (early
this year I
think).

I have been making things since I was very, very young and was taught
to make
the most from what I had...it has stood me in good stead thus far :)

Warm regards,

wow!
Now that's self-sufficiency!
What else do lace-makers make to
support our lace
habit, and do you
have any tips for the rest of us?
