Hello All! Thanks to Elizabeth, Kim, Devon & Robin for sending advice. It's a challenge to create a little piece that I can finish within my skill set--without breaking any Milanese rules! To me, the braids themselves often evoke objects or nature without even considering the shape/path of the tape. Even people who don't make lace can look at some Milanese braids & say--wow, that looks like xxx! So that's what I'm aiming for. Something abstract that says xxx!! You are quite right, Louise Colgan is an excellent teacher & I enjoyed her class at Sweet Briar last year. And I'm looking forward to the Sandi Woods Milanese sessions there this June. BTW Devon, thank you for reminding me about the element of experimentation! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA still agog from today's lecture on creating an English Garden at the Society of the Four Arts
