This issue is solved now.
The locale used in LibreOffice is described here [1]. It has three elements
(language, country and variant). In most cases, a language can be defined
with two of these elementes (language and country), as in en-US. In the LT
office-extension module there was a confusion between country and variant.
This is solved now, so that when you write "apartment" in a British English
text in LibreOffice, you get a match that suggests using "flat".
The problem for ca-ES-valencia is trickier. In this document [2], Eike
Rathke proposes this way of transporting more complex language tags (like
"ca-ES-valencia") in the LibreOffice locale:
language = "qlt"
country = "ES"
variant ="ca-ES-valencia"
This is what I have implemented and it works with LibreOffice 4.2.0-dev
[3]. I don't know if this proposal has a future... In the worst case, there
will be no support for Valencian. And this affects only the
office-extension module. Inside LT, we use language="ca", country="ES" and
variant="valencia".
I have renamed some methods in the code trying to clarify the confusion
between country and variant. But I am not fully satisfied. We should agree
about the terminology.
