Don't ask me, I don't really know what I am doing.
All I can say is that I don't care about file types and, as far as I understand
what demultiplexing is, I don't do it. And I am able to play mpeg, avi, mov and
flv.
okay this is meant with file type detection and demuxing.
For multimedia playback, using gstreamer could be still an option.
GStreamer uses ffmpeg, too. :)
yes there are ffmpeg plugins, but GStreamer has its own codecs, too
(although not as much).
