Yes at present, if rsync reports errors during a transfer, then LBackup will 
not accept this as a successful backup. In addition, as you have mentioned, it 
will not use rsync to repair or complete a failed backup. Instead it will 
delete the failed backup and retransfer any changed data / all data form the 
source.
