Marti,
While converting to and from XYZ synthetic gradients get lots of partitial color casts, the german word is Farbabriss - color cut(?).
Kai-Uwe,
actually it's the first time I've heard this German word. I asked Google, and it found only a handful of matches, so I guess the term is not so commonly used. But I must admit, that nearly all color related literature I read, was English. Anyway, two of the found links pointed to examples at fotocommunity.de (e.g. http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/pcat/26244/display/128181), and I would call the deficit of this picture just "highligh clipping", i.e. the image is IMO somewhat overexposed. Is this the effect you mean? Or can you post examples? And from which color space (or profile) do you convert to XYZ (or vice versa)?
Regards, Gerhard
