One thing important we use ICC profile so we need also the posssibility that
the driver doesn't improve automatically itself the color output

with the epson r800 drivers, you have to in the driver settings, choose ICM, and tick no color adjsutment, and untick edge smoothing.

as for HP printers & drivers ... the HP 7960 ones are really really screwed. you can only use ICM mode with their latest divers (not the ones that come on the CD - they have no ICM support what so ever !!), when using _some_ paper types.
