just guesses as I would have no way of knowing:

- control over development
- too much control of openldap by symas
- GUI GUI GUI
  (see http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Screenshots), 
  they added some interesting stuff like 'Directory Express' 
  and 'Directory Gateway'
- Integrated certificate server
- Integration with including ability to consume AD directory info

I'm not arguing with Adam and not disparaging efforts by Howard or other
Symas personnel, just simply conjecturing on Red Hat motivations
