I'm Oscar Schultz I've been quietly monitoring for about 2 years. Mostly I lurk simply due to time and that others are far better expressing common ideas. Linux is the primary desktop & server here at the house. Access to Winxx is very limited because of disagreements with the licenses and trying to respect the rights of the license creator. I'd love to use PAF on linux if it becomes available. I'm interested in Gramps but I've not been able to get it running on suse.
I'm currently developing a application suite (GPL) to support a doctor's office. Currently we are able to scan old paper charts for quick retrieval. My base idea has been to setup each patient as a book and then access the book to retrieve the needed data, images etc. The FSLC group in Logan pointed me to the LDSOSS group. For those looking for a filtering proxy squid works pretty good. Combining it with a transparent firewall rule works great for those running a nat server. For those running sshd I've written a script to configure /etc/hosts.deny to autoblock those trying to breakin. Anyone wanting a copy is welcome to it.
