I'm interested in Gramps but I've not been able to get it running on suse.
If you have suse 9.3 or 10.0, a pentium-class pc, and have apt4rpm
installed, you can type into a terminal (as root, of course) 'apt-get
update' (minus the quotes) then type in 'apt --no-checksig install
gramps' and it will install gramps plus any dependencies that gramps has
that may not yet be installed. Or you can go to http://rpm.pbone.net
and search for gramps and download the appropriate rpm directly to your
hard drive and then install it with YaST. It works great, except it
seems to be somewhat slow if you have a very large database (my database
has about 50,000 names) when compared to running PAF on Windows.
