If you stay with this ... something I very much encourage you to do ...
please don't hesiste to come back with questions about problems you
encounter. Most of us are talking, or at least thinking about, moving to
kernel 2.4.x, but no one (that I know of) has actually taken the plunge.
Your work might get things moving.
