ACK. Tags are an essentially item in my workflows w/ my Briegel
buildsystem:

* http://www.metux.de/download/oss-qm/normalized_repository.pdf

BTW: git brings uns an overlay/downstream-fork mechanism for free,
so people can easily do local adjustments (or patching), just by
using a different tag namespace.
