I helped a friend put up a LEAF box, ESB2. I have a surfboard cable
modem. He bought a Toshiba model. I had no problems at all, but we
both pulled our hair out with his modem. The final answer was to switch
to the latest version of the dhcpclient.lrp package.

One other problem that I had was in my /etc/dhclient.conf--lrcfg, 3, 3,
1. I was lazy. I had configured my cox@home host name in both the 'send
host-name' field and the send 'dhcp-client-identifier' fields. After my
lease expired, LEAF stopped working. The error messages pointed to
commenting out the dhcp-client-identifier and using just the 'send
host-name' field.

See if one of these two issues fixes your problem.
