Sorry for not responding sooner.
I'm not sure how much more info I can provide, but I'll tell you what I
know.
I tried the playing with the 'dhcp-client-identifier' settings to no avail.
Setting it to my hostname caused it to go into an extended retry mode that
eventually timed out.
I also called cox@home support and was told they had no record of any
changes to the system, but agreed that since I hadn't changed anything they
(cox@home) must have. The tech I talked to suggested calling some local to
my area (Peoria, AZ) since she was in Las Vegas. I haven't done that since
this whole thing has seriously delayed a much needed system upgrade that I
have to get done before the Fall semester starts and I'm going to be gone
for most of July!
If I find time, I'll see if I can track down someone locally who can shed
any light on what changed since it bothers me to not _really_ know what was
wrong (even though it's working fine now).
