Here's the deal... I have a computer w/ 2 NICs, both working. I'm running
bering, and I use pump to get my eth0 IP address. I also run dhcpd to give
my internal network IP addresses(listening on eth1). However, I cannot get
my internal network to use my router. I know which NIC is eth1, and I have a
hub and 3 regular cat5 cables. One goes from eth0-> DSL modem. One goes from
desktop computer -> hub. Here's where I'm confused... I think I should have
one going form eth1-> uplink on the hub but when I do that the link light
goes out on the eth1 nic. It does work if I just plug it into a normal
client port on the hub, but then the desktop computer(the one to be
masqueraded) doesn't see it. Do I need a crossover cable or something? Or
should I break down and manually configure the IP addresses? It didn't
really work when I tried it before. Any suggestions?
