More info. I connected manualy with minicom and I never did get any PPP characters. Eventually the line just dropped. Weird. It still works fine in Windows. The ISP is copper.net if anyone is familiar with that one or has a working chat script. Also, adding the debug option didn't report anything different than what was already going into the ppp and/or daemon logs. Thanks, Philip Using Tomcat but need to do more?
