Well, Windows users, for one, are very much used to being forced to 
reboot constantly, every time one of a myriad of software packages 
insists on upgrading itself, or the system just crashes, hangs, or 
becomes unstable.

It's a more alien concept to the Unix/Linux crowd, to be sure.
